Campus School Donation Summer Tennis Gives Back

Check out upcoming Tennis Memphis/NJTL summer tennis camps. NJTL Summer Tennis Camps will be held at tennis centers and parks through Memphis from June 4 – July 26. The camps run Monday thru Thursday 8-11am. The cost of the camp is $15 .00 or $65.00 per child for 1 session depending on location.

In exchange for promoting the camps by distributing the registration forms to students, Tennis Memphis will donate $5 for each paid camp registration to the Campus School Parent/Teacher Association. We see this idea as a way of promoting the mission of Tennis Memphis and supporting our schools.

Central Avenue ConstructioN UPDATE

The University of Memphis will be renovating the Central Avenue parking lot this summer. The goals of the project are to improve safety, enhance pedestrian and vehicular circulation, and improve the appearance both within the parking lot and along Central Avenue. This is the first phase of the Central Avenue Safety Project. Future changes to Central Avenue adjacent to campus will include installation of a center median with low-level landscaping, and the addition of bike lanes on both the north and south sides of the street. Additionally, a four-way intersection at Central Avenue and Zach Curlin has been proposed that will include a new entrance to the Central Avenue parking lot.

To learn more about these projects, please join us at a public information session on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. in the University Center’s Fountain View Room.

Additional information will be shared as it becomes available. In the meantime, please direct any parking questions to parking@memphis.edu.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS UPDATE

In the event it becomes necessary to evacuate the building for an extended period of time, we will relocate Campus School students to the Michael Rose Theater (indoor) or the interior of the Memorial Field Track (outdoor), just north of the Elma Roane Field House.  Two alternate locations, if we have to leave the university campus, are the Wilson Hotel, 3700 Central, or South Campus Turf Room in the UM Athletic Facilities on Getwell at Park.

The procedures for picking up your children are as follows:

•Students accounting and release will be handled by Campus School office personnel.  Only they will be authorized to release your child from the designated location.

•Students will be released only to persons listed on the student information form.

•All persons picking up students must sign on the control sheet under the witness of designated Campus School personnel.

•The date, time, and condition of the child upon release will be noted.

Should any of the children require off-site medical care, you will be notified as soon as we are able.

Please understand that these procedures will be strictly enforced for the safety of the children.  If you have not signed up for TigerText, I urge you to do so at your earliest convenience. There is a link at the bottom of this page for reference. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Susan Copeland

Director
