SAC Board Meeting Minutes August 11, 2004

In attendance: Mary Honey, Susan Copeland, Rebecca Scott, Lee Meyers, Amy Mulroy.

SAC Packs: A follow up discussion about the $25 donation request in the introductory SAC letter to parents was held, and the group agreed not to proceed with that plan. Last year’s SAC membership drive raised $6,284, with 66% of Campus families participating. A requested donation of $25 might not raise much more than that and could generate less goodwill. Susan pointed out that the school budget for supplies was reduced by $10 per child, $3500 total so the contributions SAC makes to the school are extremely important. All funds raised by SAC are used to support student learning. Mary will draft a letter welcoming Campus School families, including grandparents, to another school year. The letter will encourage SAC membership and SAC donations.

$10,000 Grant Money: Funds from this grant will be given to the school, not to SAC. As committed to by SAC, 100% of the funds will go to technology.

Parent Open House Night: At Open House on September 9 at 6:30 p.m., SAC will have a table with sign up sheets for volunteers. There will also be a sign up sheets in each classroom.

SAC Checking Account: The checking account records need to be changed with the bank to remove names of former board members. Mary will talk to Kimberly.

Directory: Pam Rose has agreed to chair this project. We will need to get directory release forms signed. Esther is already working on a database.

Copier: The contract ends in March 2005. Consideration was given to alternate contract arrangements, including the possibility of a new vendor, but a final decision was not reached.

Campus School Honored: Campus was honored as one of the top performing schools in the state of Tennessee. Less than 100 schools received this honor out of more than 17,000.

Campus School Shirts: Amy Mulroy will have a table at Open House night to take orders. Short-sleeved shirts will be sold for $15 each, allowing a small profit for SAC.

Holiday Fair: Consideration was given to holding this event again as has been done in previous years. Amy Mulroy and Jennifer Fichtner are willing to chair. They will contact former event chair Mitzi Lyne to get more details.

The next board meeting is scheduled for September 8 at 1:30 p.m.
