SAC Board Meeting Minutes March 16, 2005

In attendance: Mary Honey, Melissa Pearce, Lee Meyers, Kimberly Johnson, Amy Mulroy, Jennifer Fichtner, Claudia Lakey, Carolyn Stephenson.

Account Reconciliation: Chris Kilpatrick has been out of town and the account reconciliation has not yet been completed. Mary will follow up with him.

Board Recruitment: Mary has prepared materials to send out to parents for self-nomination. In addition to the usual positions, we will add a SAC Membership Drive chairperson. Lee also suggested dividing the Tiger Tracks Newsletter and Webmaster duties into two positions. New chairs will be needed for Adopt-A-Book, Destination Imagination, the Science Fair and the Yearbook. Co-chairs are also needed for the Book Fair, Fall Fest and the Cookie Dough sale.

2005-2006 Calendar: Options were discussed for the SAC event calendar for next year. Particularly in the fall, there are several fundraisers in close proximity on the calendar. Consideration was given to altering the calendar, but a final decision was not made.

Homecoming: Melissa reported on plans for a Campus School alumni event. It will be held the week of May 1. Participants will be inducted into a Campus Alumni Association.

Cash Management: Melissa was able to secure a donation of three moneybags from Regions Bank. These will be used to handle funds at all SAC events.

Spring Fling: Co-chairs Carolyn Stephenson and Claudia Lakey reported on preparations for this event. Originally scheduled for April 8, the board agreed to hold Spring Fling on May 6 instead so we will have TCAPs completed. Dr. Copeland has agreed to the new date. Carolyn and Claudia need additional guidance on how to handle the financial aspects of the event, so a meeting will be held at Mary’s house on Saturday, March 19 to discuss the details. Carolyn plans to apply for a Sam’s grant and needs to know how to handle tax ID issues. In addition to the usual Spring Fling activities, Carolyn and Claudia plan to have a “market’ in one of the classrooms where students can use their tickets to buy small items. As usual, tickets will be sold Monday through Wednesday the week of the event, but tickets will also be available for sale at Spring Fling. Room parents will be asked to call the parents from their classrooms to secure enough volunteers for this labor-intensive event.

Campus School Decals: Melissa will look into getting decals made and selling them to Campus families for $2 each.

Book Fair Update: Event co-chair Amy Mulroy reported that the Book Fair netted $2,129.80.

Fire Extinguisher Sale: Glenda Turner suggested this idea as a fundraiser and safety promotion. Mary will follow up with her to get more details.

The next SAC Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6 at 1:30 p.m.
