SAC Board Meeting Minutes April 13, 2005

In attendance: Mary Honey, Susan Copeland, Melissa Pearce, Amy Mulroy and Lee Meyers.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: Jonathan Shames is finalizing arrangements for this April 29 event. He asked for budget guidance, and the board identified $500 as the appropriate amount based on last year’s expenditures.

May SAC Board Meeting: The last SAC meeting of the school year will be on Thursday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Playroom. The group agreed that the agenda for that meeting should include the following:
• Review financial goals for 2004-05 (rebuild funds following last year’s major expenditure)
• Report on budget, account balance and major expenditures for this year
• Discuss survey results (many thanks to Amy for completing this).
• Goals for future expenditures (approximately $2000 for musical instruments is one suggestion. Other ideas that were discussed include art tables and cork stripping in the hallways to display children’s work).
• Report on State recognition of Campus School and the fact that the money that came with the award is to be reinvested in academic achievement.
Mary will send a notice home with the children on May 3 to encourage parents to attend the May 12 meeting. A follow up note in strip form will be sent home on May 10 as a reminder.

Spring Fling: Event chairs Carolyn Patterson and Claudia Lakey were unable to attend, but sent a report stating that preparations for this May 6 event are well underway. Many volunteers have signed up, but more are needed. The room parents will be asked to contact parents in their rooms to secure additional volunteers.

Board Nomination Forms: These forms will be distributed on April 19. Treasurer duties will be divided into three positions: treasurer, treasurer’s assistant and reconciliation officer.

Financials: Mary has the monthly statements and will have them organized by May 12.

Homecoming: Melissa reported on this event, which is designed to recapture our history and build our future. Campus alums will be invited to several events the week of May 2. Melissa will send a follow up email with specifics.
