CSPN Board Meeting November 9, 2005
[
Campus School Parent Network]

In Attendance: Melissa Pearce, Rebecca Scott, Amy Mulroy, Mary O’Kelly, Claudia Lakey, Lee Meyers (arrived at 1:45).

Bank Statement: Secretary Lee Meyers opened the Regions Bank monthly statement, initialed it and handed it to Treasurer Mary O’Kelly. Board members briefly discussed how helpful Regions has been as we transitioned to a new bank account. The bank also donated money bags to help us with cash security during and after fund raising events.

October Minutes: Approved as submitted.

Treasurer’s Report: Approved as submitted.

Cookie Dough Sale: Event chair Amy Mulroy reported cookie dough sales roughly comparable to last year’s total. However, she recommended we consider a vendor change for next year. Some participants seemed to miss the “Play and Bake” product, and the product sorting process was more complicated with this vendor compared to the one we used in the past.

Directory: Financial results aren’t in yet, but many directories have been sold already and we hope to sell the remainder at Skate Night.

Newsletter: We’re working to inch the deadlines back to allow for timely review, production and distribution. This month the content is needed by 11/21 so a draft can be submitted to Dr. Copeland by 11/28.

Yearbook: Content for last year’s book is complete and all that is needed is to finalize printer selection. Our goal at this point is to get this book out just as soon as possible. The ’05-’06 yearbook is already on track for a timely delivery. Rebecca suggested we consider a yearbook template vendor such as Life Touch.

Holiday Fair: Dates for this event were confirmed to be 12/8 and 12/9. Kids Korner will be our new vendor and the board is excited about their product offerings. The goal for this event is simply to break even while providing a memorable and meaningful learning experience for the children. We are still on track for a breakeven outcome. Many thanks to event co-chairs Kea Haynes and Mary O’Kelly for their work.

Reunion and Homecoming: CSPN Board president and Reunion Event Chair Melissa Pearce reported that preparations are proceeding well for this December 1-2 event. A publicity plan is being implemented, with public service announcements targeting a five-county area scheduled to come out soon. Specific events will include speakers on Thursday night and a luncheon on Friday. A complete event agenda is attached.

Door Lock Signs: Melissa reported that static cling door signs with instructions to stop and listen for the click have been ordered. These will be placed at the front entrance in hopes of preventing lock damage.

Cici’s Pizza: Mary will ask her contact about the specifics of a possible Cici’s Pizza Night fundraiser because there is a question as to whether such an event would generate cash for the school or simply a store credit with Cici’s.

Budget: Rebecca reported that the teachers are doing a study to assemble a comprehensive school plan for needed equipment and furnishings. She will ensure timely completion of the plan so that some purchases can be made before the end of the calendar year. Art tables have already been purchased and delivered. Susan Van Dyck is picking up the new musical instruments. Fundraising results are slightly above expectations year to date.

Bylaws and Business Forms: Amy will email these documents to all board members for final feedback so she can finalize them within the next two weeks.

Uniform Swap: Claudia Lakey proposed a very simple way to do a uniform swap. This would involve establishing a Yahoo group and announcing its availability to all Campus parents. To make it even easier, it can be set up as a link to our current website (www.campusschool.org). Claudia will speak with Ms. Bailey to ensure that this proposal fits with her efforts to get uniforms to those in need, and if Ms. Bailey is in agreement, Claudia has board approval to proceed.

Skate Night: Many thanks to Sam Futch and Eldra White who have agreed to co-chair Skate Nights for this school year. The first one will occur as planned on November 17.

Parent Meeting: The next Parent Meeting will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, December 6.

Adjournment: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:40 pm.
