CSPN Board Meeting   February 8, 2006

Attendance: The meeting was called to order at 1:35 p.m. with Melissa Pearce, Susan Copeland, Amy Mulroy, Mary O’Kelly, Lee Meyers and Claudia Lakey in attendance.

March 2nd Parent Meeting: The next parent meeting has been set for 6:30 p.m. in the Playroom. Ms. Van Dyck will plan a student musical performance to take place following the meeting.

Bank Statement: Secretary Lee Meyers opened, briefly reviewed, initialed and handed the bank statement to Treasurer Mary O’Kelly.

Minutes: The minutes of the January board meeting were reviewed and approved as written.

Treasurer’s Report: Mary reported that our net profit year to date is $16,901.61. As anticipated, there was no large source of income in January, although we did receive a generous $100 contribution for the CSPN fund drive from former SAC president Mary Honey. Some planned expenditures to enhance the school learning environment were made for art tables ($4,900) and musical instruments ($930). Destination Imagination has been allocated $1,000 but Melissa still plans to meet with Ginger Whelan to discuss a detailed budget. After some discussion, the Treasurer’s Report was approved as submitted.

Golf Tournament: Co-chairs for this event are Jason and Carmen Wilson and Dana Kirkpatrick. Dana reported to Melissa that plans are underway, although a final date has not yet been set pending identification of golf course availabilities. The co-chairs are seeking organizations to sponsor holes, and securing those sponsorships is key to making the event reach financial targets.

Yearbook: All activity on the 2004-05 yearbook is complete. The 2005-06 book is underway, but Anna Inman still needs more pictures. She would also like to include a list of all award recipients, and Susan said she would provide that list.

Adopt A Book: This year-round fundraiser has exceeded all of our financial expectations, with $650 raised year to date. The board expressed gratitude to chair Lois Young for her hard work and creativity.

CiCi’s Pizza Night: Parents are encouraged to go to Cici’s any time after school on February 21. After eating, Campus parents should put their receipt in the designated bucket. Cici’s will total up our expenditures and then award 20% of our sales back to us in store credit.

Technology Purchase Update: Five computers have been ordered. The total amount will come from the money raised through the Teachers’ Fundraiser. Susan will talk to the teachers at their February 9 faculty meeting to get input about any other technology purchases that need to be made. Following that, Susan will complete a report on any additional technology upgrades she considers necessary.

Skate Night: Pam Rose will co-chair this event, working with Amy Mulroy. The January Skate Night raised $512.

Play Yard: Melissa and Mary have done some investigating to determine specifications for compliance with all safety regulations, but some additional information is still needed. The next step is to check with Grounds and Maintenance.

Web Site: Melissa is working with Milton to put the calendar in a printable format. There are still only 36 subscribers to the ListServ, so Amy will put information about this in the upcoming CSPN newsletter.

Spring Fling: Claudia gave a report on preparations for Spring Fling. She is planning to include games that were popular at last year’s event, and eliminate the games that were not as popular. Inflatables attracted large crowds, so she made add another one and possibly a climbing wall. Claudia is also giving some thought to a single price bracelet system rather than ticket sales. The board responded favorably to Claudia’s ideas, and she will proceed with preparations for this April 28 event.

School Calendar: Susan reviewed the background on how the tentative Balanced Calendar for the 2006-2007 school year came about. After months of in-house study, a teacher committee proposed the idea to the Campus faculty. The main purpose of this calendar is to balance work and rest periods. Susan believes the proposal has a lot of merit, but she has received mixed feedback from parents. A Parent Meeting is planned for Thursday, February 16 so the concept can be discussed in more detail.

Adjournment: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m. The next CSPN board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 15.
