CSPN Parent Meeting

August 16, 2007

CSPN President Remarks: Pam Rose thanked everyone for turning out in such large numbers for the first parent meeting of the year. She noted that all parents are members of the Campus School Parent Network (CSPN). Pam outlined upcoming events for the year and pointed out that some are intended as fundraisers and others are planned primarily as social activities. She highlighted CSPN accomplishments for the 2006-2007 school year, which included purchasing the climbing wall and computers, fulfilling some items from teacher classroom wish lists and providing the first installment in a 5-year commitment to library improvements. She asked parents for ideas on contributions CSPN can make to the school this year. Pam invited all parents to attend CSPN board meetings, which are held on the 2nd Friday of each month at 1:30 pm in the Campus conference room, unless otherwise noted. She stated that an Info Packet will be sent home very soon with lots of information on parent volunteer opportunities. One upcoming fundraiser is the CSPN Support Drive and she encouraged parents to make donations to this worthy cause. Pam then introduced the 2007-2008 CSPN board: Claudia Lakey, vice president/president elect, Senese Duhart (who was unable to attend) and Janet Denkler, co-treasurers and Lee Meyers, secretary.

Treasurer's Report: Janet reported that CSPN raised $27,000 last year and we’re hoping to repeat that amount in 2007-2008. These funds have a big impact on the school, allowing for the purchase of technology and other improvements.

Director's Report: Dr. Susan Copeland thanked parents for coming and expressed appreciation for their commitment to the school. She noted that all parents are here by choice. Dr. Copeland stated that her goal is to prepare our children to be successful in the world. She discussed the upcoming teachers’ fundraiser, which provides for professional development for the faculty and supports acquisition of technology and library improvements. She advised parents to watch for the monthly newsletter, Tiger Tracks, and she pointed out that Tuesdays and Thursdays are the days to be sure to check the children’s backpacks for materials that are sent home for parents. Dr. Copeland reported that Campus School achieved 99% math and reading proficiency but she and the faculty continually strive for even greater performance. Dr. Copeland then introduced and expressed appreciation for "the best faculty in the world".

Dr. Copeland closed by saying that she and the entire faculty love our children as if they were their own. She encouraged parents to get involved and invited them to come join their child for lunch at any time.

Adjournment: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm.
