During the month of October, SCS will be holding a series of workshops, all aimed to help identify solutions and develop plans for creating more high quality school options in our communities. While we continue to make significant strides toward our Destination 2025 goals, we know some of our schools are struggling to keep pace. In many cases, there are factors beyond their control, such as inequity in programming and services, declining population trends, poor facility conditions and an influx of new competitors.
Some schools will have to close, merge or be transformed in order to achieve the optimal conditions for high quality education. Our schools are the lifeblood of so many of our neighborhoods, so we need families and community members to help us identify the qualities they feel define high quality education. If a child's school is going to close or be transformed, a parent should be assured that the next school will provide him or her with more opportunities to learn and grow.
All of the workshops listed below are open to the public, but we need to ensure that our most engaged parents are involved. The RSVP link (Zone 1 for Campus School) next to each meeting can be shared with your parents. We are asking for up to five confirmed participants. For any additional questions about the meetings, parents can contact our Family & Community Engagement Office at 416-7600.
