Fall Intersession Course Descriptions Announced

Fall Intersession Registration is set for September 15 & 16 from 7:30am - 2pm.  

Please turn in your form to the intersession registration table in the main lobby with payment attached. Please do not send with your child to turn in to their teacher.  Only registration forms submitted at the table during business hours will be accepted.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS – FALL 2016

 

Recreational Games and Activities (Coleman/Gagne)

Come learn and play games that can last a lifetime.  In this class you will learn to play shuffleboard, croquet, box hockey, bowling, table tennis, horseshoes, and roller skate the halls of Campus School. These are games/activities that you can play no matter what your age. The games/activities can be played alone or with a friend. Come join in the fun!

Grade Level: 1, 2, 3

Morning Session: 8:00 – 11:00

Book Cook (C. Smith)

Book Cook Fall Intersession is a fun way to promote reading and creating fun foods with kids.  We will read award-winning books with a food-related theme.  We will visit the TIGRuS Garden and students will be introduced to and learn about how food products we use and eat every day comes from plants or agriculture.  We will read, measure, count, prepare, create, AND eat deliciously tasty treats* and foods to go with each book that we read.  For a culminating activity, we will watch the movie Ratatouille AND prepare and feast on Ratatouille!   If your child likes to read, prepare and eat delicious snacks then they will LOVE my Book Cook Intersession!
*Caution to students with food allergies.

Chess Camp – (Mid-South Chess)

Whether your child has ever touched a chess piece or can defeat all challengers, Campus Intersession Chess Camp welcomes you to a chess camp for learning and achievement.  Mid-South Chess instructors are college students and recent graduates trained by Grandmaster Alexander Stripunsky and Memphian/Rhodes College Graduate, International Master Jake Kleiman.  Each instructor is hand selected for skill, competence, and experience in coaching chess.  LOADS OF FUN WHILE EDUCATING YOUR CHILD IN THE AWESOME GAME OF CHESS. Check out this noble game that Mid-South Chess considers an Art, a Science, and a Sport.  See you across the board.

Bits, Bytes & Bots Computer Adventure (Steven Strang/Bits, Bytes & Bots Computer Adventures Staff)

Technology Camp

Campers will explore different technology mediums by learning to code, creating a PC based video game and meeting challenges by using a variety of equipment including laptops and Lego Mindstorm robots.  

*All equipment is supplied. Robots are for in camp use only and campers will not be allowed to take them home. Maximum number of students is 15 for morning session.

Grade Level: 3, 4, 5

Gotta Catch ‘em all! Pokemon (Cordero)

Do you wanna be the very best like no one ever was?  Then join Mrs. Cordero’s Pokemon Gym where we will make, create, and train Pokemon. We will battle it out on the Wii, DS, and trading card arena. We will draw and create our own Pokemon art. Last, but not least, we will go on a campus adventure capturing Pokemon with the all new Pokemon Go App!  Level up!

Just Dance (Cassidy)

Ladies and gents in 4th and 5th grade, it is time to put on your boogie shoes! Mrs. Cassidy’s philosophy is that there is a dancer in all of us! Join Just Dance for an exciting week of hip hop dance lessons! We will spend our time together learning a hip hop routine, creating our own costumes, creating a group name, and designing a background. We will also have the opportunity to take a sneak peak at what a real studio looks like!  Our week will end with a fabulous performance to show off all your happening hip hop moves to your family!

Tiger Trek (Arnold)

Come trek across U of M’s Tiger Campus.   We will explore many unique and hidden treasures located around the university.  Trek through places like a rooftop greenhouse and the TIGRuS Garden.  Discover the latest advances in technology and engineering in the FedEx Institute.  March to the sounds of the University’s diverse music program. Explore the Tigers’ massive sports facilities.  Tour the bike shop, library, and grab a snack at the UC!  Sign up for Tiger Trek, where every day is an adventure.     

Grade Level: 2, 3, 4, 5

Fall Frenzy (Horsley)  

If you love pumpkins, spiders, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and all things Fall, join Mrs. Horsley for Fall Frenzy. We will be learning all about pumpkins and spiders. We will also be taking a field trip to Cedar Hill Farms where we will go on a hay ride, go to a petting zoo, and pick our own pumpkins. Hold on to those pumpkins you pick, you'll get to decorate them later! If you are in ANY grade and coming in the afternoon, join us for a Fall Frenzy!

New Ballet Ensemble Versatile Dance Class (Alexis Jackson and Francis Hord

New Ballet Ensemble is known for diverse offerings in dance. Our intersession classes will feature a wide range of dance styles including African, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Flamenco and Modern dance. Students will have the opportunity to explore a different discipline of dance each day!
